A few weeks ago, my sweet friend, Tara at She’s Rooted Home, had the inspiration to create a collection of Thanksgiving Recipes. She brought the idea to our Homestead Living group and we all contributed our favorite recipes. Whether you’re all ready and prepped, or looking for some great last minute recipes, you won’t want to miss out on this (click on the green buttons to download!).
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Growing up, we always gathered at my parents’ house (that was also my Grandma’s house). My Mom was one of eleven, so you can imagine how many people we set places for! We always had long rows of tables and chairs, brought out the fine china, and dressed up to enjoy food and games all day long.
Several games of spoons was always a requirement, and we always had too many pies to count. Plenty of leftovers were divided out among the families and we would snack on turkey, stuffing, casseroles, and pies for days.
One of my favorite recipes (shared in our download) during Thanksgiving is the spiced cider my Mom would make. It always was the perfect warm drink to pair with Turkey and fixins’.
Now that we are all grown with our own families, and now that I live 1,200 miles away, Thanksgivings are a little smaller, but still special and it is still is my favorite holiday.
We have our usual recipes that we bring every year as we gather at my in-law’s home here on the ranch. This year I’m going to try some new versions of the traditional recipes from our Thanksgiving recipe collection.
Our 100 page pdf includes 40 recipes with gluten-free and paleo options!
I hope that you are able to gather with those you love, and reflect on the blessings this year brought. Thanksgiving is, after all, a holiday that came from the hearts of those first ‘homesteaders’ who had seen so much hardship and challenges. They saw past their own suffering and gave thanks to their Heavenly Father for His goodness and provision. Let’s look for the same blessings this Thanksgiving!
At the bottom of each recipe you can find the source of these recipes. Be sure to follow all of these gals on Instagram to follow along with their homesteading wit and wisdom, and visit their websites for more amazing recipes!
Happy Thanksgiving and happy trails!
