Azure Standard – The Best Organic, Non-GMO Homestead Supplies

Back in the 90’s, I remember the thick product-filled catalogs from Azure Standard that my Mom used to get in the mail. They were so fun to look through even as a child. My Mom always let us use a highlighter to Mark which items we’d like to order.

(Before I go on, be sure to follow me on Pinterest and Instagram!)

My Mom would call in the order on her corded landline (say what?!) Yeah, back in the day when you were connected to the wall and never knew who was calling! Her order would arrive at a drop-off location, which in our case was a nice elderly lady’s house and we’d go pick up all of our boxes. There was so much excitement surrounding that event! Such good food (and usually some healthy treats too!)

Now as an adult, I just go online and put in my order, pay with a card, and my order is on its way. I now have the option to ship my order directly to me or pick it up at a drop-off (a sweet friend always offers to pick mine up!). Azure Standard uses a trucking route and delivers to every state, including Alaska and Hawaii! They also deliver to the Caribbean and South Pacific! Wowza! They have a great map on their website that shows their current drop-off locations.

Azure Standard History

Azure Standard is a family-owned business and originated from the need for healing. This is the story of a young man who overcame a life-threatening health condition to become the Founder and CEO of a successful company providing healthful and wholesome organic, non-GMO products to people like us across the country. David Stelzer struggled with a severe case of asthma as a young child. His Grandfather also had severe health complications. The combination of these two health challenges led his family to start a whole-foods diet. This life change was the beginning of Azure Standard. You can read more about their history here.

Quality Products

One of the things I love about Azure Standard is that they continually research their products and the companies behind them. For instance, recently the well-known brand Biokleen was bought out by a company owned by The Carlyle Group and is moving production from the Pacific Northwest to Chicago and New York. You can read more here about why Azure Standard Founder and CEO, David Stelzer, decided to discontinue this product line, and what they have developed as a locally sourced product that will take the place of Biokleen.

It gives me peace of mind to know that the products that I am using come from a company that stands behind its core values and doesn’t sell out quality to make a higher profit. They only promote products that have clean ingredients making them the best source for organic non-GMO homestead supplies.

Easy Navigation

Azure Standard’s website has continually seen improvements over the years. It is very easy to navigate. You can find pretty much everything organic and non-GMO, including pantry staples, meals, fresh produce, heirloom seeds, livestock feed, gardening supplies, and even seasonal organic plant starts for your garden!

You can still order catalogs from them if you prefer to have something in-hand to markup. I love having the physical catalog because sometimes I skim over what’s on their website and miss something I need. I also find it easier to price compare and stay within my monthly budget if I can write it down.

Products for Food Sensitivities

They have a wonderful selection of gluten-free and dairy-free products. As a teenager, I developed a sensitivity to gluten, it manifested itself in my skin and my stomach. I was determined to heal myself, so at the age of 16, I went a whole year without any refined sugars or gluten. I read every single label of everything I put into my body. It was very revealing of the refined sugars and gluten flours in sooooo many products! At that time, my Mom would order gluten-free products through Azure Standard for me. Gluten-Free wasn’t really a big thing then so finding gluten-free food that I actually wanted to eat wasn’t easy! Azure Standard had a selection of products I actually enjoyed!

I had also tried a dairy-free diet for a while before I found that A2A2 milk was what my body needed! Azure Standard carries a great variety of products for those sensitive to dairy.

My Favorites

Here are some of my favorite products from Azure Standard.

Milking Equipment

I have bought all of my glass jars, lids, and filters through them for raw milk from my Jersey cows.

Food Storage

I use the smaller half gallon sizes for storing grains and spices.

Food Favorites

They have a great selection of bulk items. Some of my favorite products to buy in bulk are organic black beans because we go through a lot of them! The price can really add up if I buy canned black beans locally or even from Costco. I have soaked these beans prior to cooking them, but now I’m going to can my own beans following Angi’s tutorial.

This Wild Rice is soooo good in casseroles! And, of course, it stores well. Rice and beans – two necessary staples for self reliance preparation.

Red Lentils are excellent in soups and stews! And highly nutritious too!

Barley is a great source of fiber and one of my favorite beef stew ingredients! And Azure Standard’s is organic!

Beef Gelatin is perfect for making homemade marshmallows and many other recipes. I don’t eat pork, so I love that this is beef sourced!

Azure Standard carries spices of all kinds. Organic and non-GMO options in bulk. You can use your food saver to re-seal what you don’t use up right away!

Azure Standard Vanilla Beans
Azure Standard Ground Cinnamon

Those are just a sampling of the items I find very helpful. They have sooooo many more organic non-GMO homestead supplies! So take a look around their website and then find your closest drop location! You can also have your order shipped to you, but it’s definitely more cost-effective to pick it up at a drop location!

Until next time, happy trails!

Tiffany
